Friday Faves - My Favourite Youtubers (Part 2)

Good morning lovely people!

The sun is shining here in Glasgow and I am in a very good mood. I'm waiting on a new TV being delivered - a 50" beast - and I am chilling out and catching up on all my YouTube subscriptions which appear to have doubled since the last time I shared my faves with you all.

Anyway, I mentioned on my twitter feed, but I thought I'd also mention it here... I'm going to start featuring my favourite blog every week in my Friday Faves. I do have a list of all my favourite blogs at the minute in a list down the right hand side column of this blog - but I've decided to remove that and just focus primarily on one blog per week. I figured it's a nice way to personally get to know a lovely new blogger and get down to the nitty gritty of what they are all about and what they want to achieve through their blog. I thought it would be a super fun addition to my own post and would help you - my amazing readers - to find new and exciting reads too.

So anyway, onto today's business and the addition of 5 new Youtubers into my faves.

This guy is an absolute genius and comedian all rolled into one. He somehow manages to take actual real life pieces of news and current affairs, and interpret his thoughts and feelings on the matter in a funny and coherent way. I have literally never stopped watching his videos since discovering him and I think you should definitely give him a watch yourself.

This gorgeous lady is another of my Youtube faves who is a bit of a makeup guru. She shares makeup tips, shopping hauls, tags and all sorts of other fun and entertaining videos. She is so charismatic and normal, that you genuinely feel like your listening to a friend speaking. Definitely pay her a little visit.

So this lovely lady is Aaman and again she is super similar to Amelia Liana above in that she's a bit of a makeup, hauls & tag person. The reason I chose to share her with you too though, is because she's a really great speaker and is super confident in front of the camera. I know that's a weird thing to say really... but I have watched several videos over the past few weeks of young girls, obviously just trying to get into YouTube and they are so shy and nervous that you often can hear or understand what they're saying in the videos. That's why I love Aaman, she is super straight talking and to the point and doesn't waver on her opinions about skincare and beauty products. She's a straight shooter and you should give her vids a watch.

Ok so in my last Fave Youtubers post I shared Matt Granger with you all. He's a photographer sharing his skills and knowledge through reviews and tutorials etc. This team of experts are similar in that sense. However, Kai and Lok, break everything down into layman's terms, making everything more understandable for the less knowledgeable. As well as that, Kai is super quick witted and sarcastic and most of these videos are just downright funny, so if you're wanting to learn a bit more about photographer equipment then these guys are your best bet for learning successfully.

Ok, so Carrie, as many of you will probably know is the sister of Tom from McFly... and if you don't know who that is, he is the amazingly romantic guy who sang his wedding speech and shared it on YouTube and it went viral a few years ago. Ok??? Got it now??? Ok, so Carrie is Tom's sister, and she is a star in her own right. She plays a part in Les Mis on the West End in London and has the biggest and best personality a person could have. She is a tremendous singer and often collaborates with her brother and others on her page, singing songs with just the accompaniment of her acoustic guitar. To say I LOVE HER is an understatement. Every time I watch her videos she just fills me with absolute joy. She is one of those people who was sent here to be kind and make the world a better place. You would be bonkers not to subscribe to her NOW!!!

So there you go my lovelies. Another 5 Youtubers for you to get to know and hopefully subscribe to. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Youtube is a truly remarkable place, full of super talented people, all sharing a little part of their lives, and I feel truly blessed that I am able to enjoy and be part of that... I hope you do too.

Take care lovelies. x

My Fave Youtubers

Hey lovely people!

Today I thought I'd share my favourite Youtubers of the moment with you all.

This is a super exciting world filled with super creative people, putting themselves out there and sharing their lives with the world... and let me tell you, once you dip your feet in the Youtube pool... you will end up knee deep before you know it!

So without further rambling here are my top 5 favourites and a little bit about them and their channel:

She is a super sassy lady from Florida, with an infectious personality and a tremendous talent for applying makeup. She has an abundance of amazing makeup tutorials and haul videos showcasing her extreme shopping addiction. She's funny and really entertaining and you really can't help but watch video after video.

Lily is a trendy, blogger from London, who provides makeup tutorials, product reviews, style guides and sooooooo much more. She has a way of drawing you in with her effortless charisma in front of the camera and her knowledgeable chats about beauty products and fashion in general. She is super normal, so it feels like your just listening to a friend when she talks... and that's what I like most about her.

She's totally worth a look so go ahead!

Hannah initially started this channel as a beauty blog, but fell pregnant with little Grayson and decided to share her pregnancy experience with her viewers. She is so open and honest about her experience that it's simply refreshing. Her most recent post takes on the ever controversial topic of breastfeeding.

She is a sweet, lovely girl, sharing her life with us lucky people. Go see what I mean!

Jim Chapman is one of a fairly sizeable group of youtubers and bloggers providing entertaining videos where he shares his day to day living, some funny and interesting tags and loads of funny collaborations with his friends. He is the brother of Sam & Nic Chapman (the genius makeup artist sisters behind Pixiwoos), the boyfriend of Tanya Burr (the gorgeously, sweet makeup artist with her own lipgloss and nail polish line just out) and the twin brother of John Chapman (the body conscious, personal trainer who is one half of The Lean Machines). He is super sweet and funny and truly loves his audience - welcoming his viewers with his greeting "hello best friends" on every video post! I seriously can't get enough of him.

You'd be crazy not to give this guy a visit. He will quickly become your online best friend!

5. Matt Granger - Get Your Gear Out

Matt Granger is an Australian Photographer, sharing tutorials on all aspects of photography and reviewing all of the cameras, lenses and equipment you can possibly think of. He is super talented and really easy to listen to and if you're new to the field of photography he can help you perfect your skills with more ease than you could imagine possible. He has a motto - "Get Your Gear Out" - which is way of encouraging fellow amateur and professional photographers to get out and shoot as often as they can. He is just brilliant and makes his art looking so easy. I highly recommend you makes his videos a part of your Youtube viewing!

I'd just like to say that these amazing Youtubers are only a small selection of my favourites, and I will continue to share the other wonderfully talented people I follow as well as any new ones I discover along the way. I honestly recommend that you nip along to a few of their pages and have a good look for yourselves. They offer so much in terms of the mixture of areas they specialise in and I believe that like me, you will get a lot out of their posts.

Take care lovelies. x

My 3rd Friday Faves!

Hey there lovely people!

Happy Friday to you all.

Is it just me or are the weeks just flying by at a ridiculously fast rate. I mean it's almost April for crying out loud. Where did that come from???

Anyway, it's time for another round-up of my favourite weekly things. Enjoy!!!

1. This guy again!!!

My husband and I, taken myself in November 2013.
As always, my hubby has made the top spot. As much as he annoys me (and let me tell you he has done his fair share of that this week) he will always be the favourite part of my week.

2. Some time with the In-Laws!

This is a rare occurrence as Michael doesn't have a big family like I do, but this weekend is the 50th birthday of his uncle and we are all having a night out to celebrate. Should be a fun filled night! :D

3. Significant numbers this week!

The number of followers I reached on Twitter!!! Yay!!!

The number of page views my blog reached this week!!! Double Yay!!!
I am soooooooooooo thrilled to have reached these super important milestones! And I have YOU to thank. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!
4. Fun Decorating!

This weekend my husband and I plan on swapping my little home studio with our bedroom. There's a couple of reasons for this - the main one being I just fancy a change. Lol! The other reason is that our current bedroom is south facing and therefore gets way more light than my little studio and is therefore much better for my shoots. It will be a big job but I am really looking forward to it... especially the shopping for cute little accessories.

5. Chatting with all of you lovely people!

My weekend ritual now includes reading & watching everything all you lovely people have to say. It is a joy and truly an inspiration to see how wonderfully creative and talented you all are. I just wanted to share with you, some of the new people I have discovered this week, some you may already be following yourself:

  1. Letters To Antoinette - A beautifully written blog, by a beautiful girl named Antoinette.
  2. Milk Bubble Tea - The most adorable blog, with the most stunning photographs.
  3. Lily Melrose - A fabulously trendy little blog & equally entertaining Youtube channel to go with it.
  4. I Heart Organizing - A fantastic blog full of helpful tips about how to better organise your life.
  5. Lily Pebbles - If you're not already, get following this lady - she is the definition of FAB!!!

Anyway, I will leave it there and I hope that you enjoy whatever it is that you've got planned for this weekend!

Take care lovelies. x

T.M.I Tag

Hey lovely people!

Is everybody having a good Saturday??? I hope so.

So today I thought I would go ahead and share some info with you all... or perhaps too much info as it were.

This is a tag that I have seen loads of times and I love reading posts about it and watching YouTube videos about it, so I thought I would give it a go and share it with you all.

So here goes:

1: What are you wearing?
I'm having a "black day" today so I'm wearing black leggings, a black long-line vest top, a black jumper & black socks. I am however wearing a bright orangey red lipstick so at least there's a pop of colour.
2: Ever been in love?
Yes. I am super in love with my husband.
3: Ever had a terrible breakup?
Yes. I had quite a serious boyfriend when I was 14 and my mum thought it was getting too serious so told me I had to finish it, hence a some very complicated break-up drama.

4: How tall are you?
5ft 7inches.
5: How much do you weigh?
Too much.
6: Any tattoos?
Nope. However my husband has 2 that are dedicated to me. One is a small "D" behind his left ear and the other is the date we started seeing each other on his right wrist. So does that count???
7: Any piercings?
Yes. I have one piercing in each of my ears. I used to have 2 piercings in each ear but I kept forgetting to put earrings in them and so they eventually closed up.

8: OTP? (One True Pairing)
Ok, I have a few of these. I absolutely love New Girl and want nothing more than things to work out between Nick & Jess. Also I am obsessed with The Vampire Diaries and I very much in love with Ian Somerhaulder who plays Damon and I much prefer him and Elena as opposed to Stefan and Elena.

9: Favourite Show?
This is too hard a question. How can I possibly whittle it down to one show. So
I'll just give you my current faves: Modern Family (HILARIOUS), New Girl (AMAZEBALLS), and I'm re-watching Ugly Betty from the beginning again so that too.
10: Favourite bands?
The Killers, Snow Patrol, Cold Play, James, Mumford & Sons to name but a few.
11: Something you miss?
This is more a "Someone" I miss... and that's my Granny Rose. She died almost 14 years ago and I miss her everyday.
12: Favourite song?
Oooft... too many to name. Current faves are Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" just because it's a super sexy wee beat and "Drunk In Love" by Beyonce just because she's freaking awesome!
13: How old are you?
28... 29 in June!!! *sobs
14: Zodiac sign?
Cancer.
15: Quality you look for in a partner?
Somebody who is kind.
16: Favourite Quote?
This is a little "Photography" related number but I just love it:
"Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. If things don't work out, take another shot".
17: Favourite actor?
Oooh... erm... I love Christian Bale & Tom Hardy just because they're such method actors. Every role I watch them in is completely different from the last one.
18: Favourite colour?
I lurrrrvvveeee Red!!!
19: Loud music or soft?
Loud all the way.
20: Where do you go when you’re sad?
Into the arms of my hubby. He's the best cuddler you will ever meet and he always makes me feel better with one of his big bear hugs.
21: How long does it take you to shower?
10-15 minutes. I love a shower so I do.
22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Lol... 5 minutes. Unless of course I'm going out and in need of a little makeup fix, in which case it's about 30-45 minutes.
23: Ever been in a physical fight?
Not really.
24: Turn on?
ARMS!!! I am obsessed with arms on a man.
25: Turn off?
Arrogance & superiority.
26: The reason I started a blog?
Initially it was to document my photo-shoots but after reading loads of the fab blogs out there I decided to just make it a lifestyle blog, covering all the aspects of my life as opposed to one single subject.
27: Fears?
I'm terrified of insects... like irrationally terrified. But on a bigger scale - I'm scared of losing the people I love in my life.
28: Last thing that made you cry?
I cry all the time. Like ALL THE TIME!!! I seriously do believe that there is something mentally wrong with me at times. So the last time I cried was this morning - watching a programme on the TV about Astronauts and the dangers they face in Space.
29: Last time you said you loved someone?
Today. I end every call with my hubby with "I love you". :)
30: Meaning behind your Blog Name?
Ok so "Once Upon A Picture" was the username I chose when I set up my Flickr account because I aspire to be one of those photographers who tell stories through their pictures... so I decided that I would name my business "Once Upon A Picture Photography" and when I decided to do my blog it
only made sense to continue on with the theme.
31: Last book you read?
"Reflected In You" by Sylvia Day - It's a raunchy little number so not for the faint hearted.

32: The book you’re currently reading?
"Entwined With You" by Sylvia Day - The final book in the 3 part series.
33: Last show you watched?
Ugly Betty.

34: Last person you talked to?
My husband.

35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?
My sister Joanne.
36: Favourite food?
Oooh chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.
37: Place you want to visit?
New York! It's my ultimate dream holiday - but I want to have the proper New York experience in a fancy Manhattan hotel and do all of the touristy things so I'll need a few weeks to spend over there and a few thousand pounds to book it in the first place.
38: Last place you were?
At the park with my dogs and my hubby.
39: Do you have a crush?
Yep... my hubby... and Ian Somerhaulder.
40: Last time you kissed someone?
41: Last time you were insulted?
Wednesday night on Facebook when a narrow-minded individual put a post on about "chunky women".
42: Favourite flavour of sweet?
I love citrus flavours so lemon, lime and the like.
43: What instruments do you play?
None... *shamed
44: Favourite piece of jewellery?
My wedding ring of course.
45: Last sport you played?
Lol... I'm not exactly a sport playing type of gal... I can however swim really well. And I was at the swimming a few weeks ago.
46: Last song you sang?
Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis - an addictive wee tune!
47: Favourite chat up line?
None - they are cheesey as heck!
48: Have you ever used it?
Refer to the above.
49: Last time you hung out with anyone?
Right now... my hubby & my 2 pooches.
50: Who should answer these questions next?
You, you and you!

So there you go, far too much information on yours truly! Hope you enjoyed reading this and by all means leave the link to your blog or video responses in the comments section. I'd love to give them a read.
Take care lovelies. x

Happy Monday Lovelies! :)

Hey lovely people! :D

Happy Monday to you all. I had a great wee weekend but as usual it was too fast! :( I was working a bit on Saturday and then got to spend some time with my crazy niece and nephew. Was a fun filled 2 days.

So today is quite an exciting day for me because I filmed my very 1st Video Blog. I was extremely nervous and apprehensive about doing it but I felt that it was a natural progression from written blog to video blog.

There's nothing spectacular in it but I just wanted to properly introduce myself and get the whole video thing started.

So please be kind... I was super nervous!

)

Take care lovelies. x
