My Disney Obession

Hey Lovely people!

This post was inspired by my love affair with Disney movies. I mean who can say they don't like a good Disney classic??? Nobody!!!

Today I have decided to watch Aladdin... simply because it has been far too long since I gave it a watch. Not only does it have some of the best Disney songs included, but it also has Robin Williams providing the voice of the Genie.  It is also the Disney movie with the greatest life lessons...

1. Always remember to be true to yourself and don't try to be something and someone you are not.
2. Remember to value your self worth.
3. It's important to keep your promises, even if you have to make a sacrifice.
4. Money doesn't bring you happiness.
5. Anything is possible, as long as you work hard enough to get it.

Now like a lot of people, I have an affinity with the old classically animated movies with The Little Mermaid being my absolute, unequivocal favourite. I was read the Hans Christian Anderson book by my family when I was a little girl and became obsessed with the idea of mermaids and the magical world they lived in under the sea. The only disappointment I had with the book... and obviously being a little girl... was that there was no happy ending.

However, when Disney released their "Happily-Ever-After" movie version on the 1st of January 1989 (when I wasn't even 4 years old yet) it quickly became my most cherished and beloved movie of all time.

I thought Ariel was beautiful with her long wavy red hair, lilac seashells and turquoise fishtail. She sang so beautifully and for a little girl like me, she sang songs that were easy to learn and sing along with. I just loved her and I loved the beautiful story of love overcoming all obstacles. It set me up to be a bit of a hopeless romantic, always striving to find that one true love of my life. Well whoever said that fairytale's aren't real, are really needing to have a look at my life because after many struggles and "obstacles" in my way I finally found the love of my life - my own Disney Prince, and I have been living happily ever after for almost 13 years now. :)

My husband and I on our wedding day in November 2011.
While I was looking for Disney images to use I came across some pictures of the most fabulous Disney Princesses and I thought I would share them with you.

These real life sketches are gorgeous - and provide a much more realistic image of the princesses.
I love these true to life Disney princesses. They are all super beautiful.
And finally this up-to-date portrayal of the Disney Princesses & what their style might be if they were everyday girls.
Hope you enjoyed this post lovely people. I think it's important at any age to stay connected with your childhood and I think Disney provides us with this opportunity. I will never grow old of it and I will read the stories and watch the movies with my own children and their children for as many years as I have ahead of me.

It was after all the marvellous Walt Disney who said...

"That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up"...

Take care lovelies. x

Post Oscars Thoughts...

Hey my lovelies!

Well how fabulous was The Oscars??? I thoroughly enjoyed the whole show... not to mention the fantastic job Ellen Degeneres done of hosting it!

But let me first get to my choice of winner for the Best Dressed...

The beautiful Lupita Nyongo won it HANDS DOWN for me in this Prada gown!!!
It was effortless and elegant and just absolutely stunning!!!

As well as being "Best Dressed", Lupita Nyongo's acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress was just lovely. I cried while listening to her speak so eloquently about how much this meant to her. It truly was a beautiful and unforgettable moment in Oscar history for me.

Coming a close second though in the "Best Dressed" department was this gorgeous lady...

Kate Hudson was absolutely exquisite in Atelier Versace, evoking feelings of "Old Hollywood".

And not forgetting the handsome men...

How dapper does Matthew McConaughey look in this fabulous Dolce & Gabbana suit??? And might I add, how fabulous was his acceptance speech for Best Actor? Inspirational stuff!

I thought all of the winners were very worthy and I often had a tear in my eye listening to the passion and gratitude that each and every winner displayed during their acceptance speech, which I think made the entire night even better and much more enjoyable than any of the shows I have watched in previous years!!!

Hope you enjoyed it as much as me.

Take care my lovelies! x

The Oscars - 2014

Good evening my lovelies! It's late I know but I just thought I would check in and update you all with  what I've been up to today.

It's generally been a pretty lazy Sunday to be fair... But it always tends to be... Sunday being the day of rest and all that jazz! I had lunch with my hubby and we watched some of our trashy tv shows together and then we had an early dinner and headed off to bed not long after 8pm (I know, part animals eh). Which leads me to now...

I am currently sitting up in my bed (while my loving husband snores next to me) browsing through my iPad and flicking through the tv channels trying to make sure I don't miss any of the Oscar Red Carpet arrivals!

This is one of my most favourite nights of the year!

I'm already a bit of an insomniac so it's really no problem for me to stay up until 4 am watching the awards ceremony, and it appears to have become something of a tradition for me over the years!

What can I say??? I just love celebrities! I love their movies... I love watching their lives... And most of all I love their wardrobes!!!

Now let me be very clear... I am not now, nor have I ever professed to be an expert in fashion and beauty... I do however know what I like... And this tends to be showcased best from the actors  and actresses strutting down the Red Carpet during the awards season!

However... My reasons for watching the Oscars this year have increased tenfold... And this is all down to this years host...

Just to be clear Ellen Degeneres is one of my absolute favourite people in the whole wide world! I love her personality, her ideals, her attitude and everything else that makes her sooooo fantastic, including her absolutely hilarious sense of humour!!!

But anyway, despite being more than able to go on and on and on about how fabulous she is, I shall leave it there & I will be sure to update all of my favourite looks, moments and winners tomorrow... Once I've had some sleep!

Take care lovelies. X
