Style Inspiration - Spring Parties & Events

Hey lovely people!

So instead of doing my usual Monday wishlist post I decided to talk a bit about how to get ready for events & nights out during Spring. This is something that I've recently been giving a lot of thought to as I have a relatively big family and with that comes family events. So, I've been doing my research and trying to figure out what I'm going to wear, how I'm going to style my hair, and what kind of look I want to go for with my makeup. On that note, I thought I would share a few of my style options with you.

So I loved the idea of having an earthy, nude base to the whole look, topping it off with a gorgeous pastel mint pop of colour. I love the slight hint of colour in the eyeshadow and the nude lips are perfect for this type of look. It just screams fresh spring style to me and is definitely the kind of look that would be perfect for a afternoon event.

I think this kind of look is perfect for transitioning from day to night. The bright pops of fuchsia & baby pink provide a great, fun daytime look along with the accompaniment of black in the rest of the dress and in the shoes & bag, it means it's a look that can easily transform from laid-back casual garden party to disco dancing the night away. Forgive me for including the Chanel bag... I couldn't resist it's beauty and it literally had a magnetic pull! :) Obviously I would have to settle for a dupe... or sweet talk my hubby... Lol! But you get my point.

So that's my 2 easy breezy looks covering day to night of Spring parties and events! Super pretty... really easy... and totally Spring inspired! :)

Take care lovelies. x

Spring Make-Up Tag

Hey there lovely people,

So I didn't post yesterday as it ended up being a super busy day spent with my niece and nephew, so today I bring to you another Tag and this time it's all about Spring Make-Up... my new favourite topic. So without further ado, here is the tag.

1. Do you change up your makeup when Spring arrives? If so, please explain how?
As I've explained in previous posts, until recently I was very much in the dark about most make-up trends. However, I was always very conscious about keeping my makeup quite light and fresh in the warmer months, and experimented a bit more with deeper, darker colours in the colder, winter months and this continues to be the case.
2. What’s your fave Spring fragrance?
This is an absolute no brainer, it's my favourite fragrance for every season of the year - Just Pink from Next.

3. What’s going to be your fave accessory this Spring?
I'm super into necklaces & chains again - exploring old costume jewellery I had locked away and forgotten about. So I think a few more purchases might be in order as like earrings, it really does add a little something more to your outfit. As well as that I'm thinking about finally investing in a pair of Ray-Bans.
4. What’s going to be your most worn item of clothing this Spring?
Mmmm... Probably anything Coral! I'm absolutely loving that colour right now so yeah, probably that.
5. What are your Top 3 fave Spring nail polishes?
Ok, so I have a Coral shade (did I mention that I like coral) from Sinful Colors which I adore, but I'm also loving the shade Hip Hop from Rimmel and Brompton Place from Nails Inc. They are all super bright and cheerful colours.
6. Do you prefer pumps or sandals in Spring?
Pumps definitely - Scotland is not really warm enough in the Spring to wear sandals.
7. What's your fave lipstick colour for Spring?
Well red is always my fave and I think it's quite an easy colour to wear in all seasons... but I am loving peachy shades right now too.

8.  Are you a fake tanner or do you prefer the natural sunkissed look?
I am completely hopeless at applying fake tan... not to mention I have quite pigmented skin, so it doesn't go on well anyway... So the natural sunkissed look is the one for me!
9. What is your favourite drugstore and high end Spring inspired piece of makeup?
Fave drugstore make-up at the minute is the MUA lipsticks... they are like £1 and there are loads of beautiful fresh spring colours to choose from, including the Peachy Keen Matte Lipstick I was referring to before. My fave high end piece would have to be my Bare Minerals Powder - It's feels super nice and light on the skin and gives me a fresh and healthy complexion. I love it!
10. What's your fave Spring colour this season & do you have your eye on any specific clothing pieces?
So as I said earlier and several times in previous posts, I love coral this spring! It's just such a beautiful and vibrant colour without being too in your face. I love how even somebody like me, with very pale skin, suits it. Whether it's on my nails or a piece of clothing... It is the ultimate spring colour for me!

Ok so there's my Spring Make-Up Tag for all you lovely people... why don't you get involved and do your own.

Take care lovelies. x

Monday Wish List - Flower Power

Hey there lovely people!

It's Monday and that means it's Wish List time! :) This weeks post has been inspired by Spring and all the beautiful flowers beginning to bloom.

I have collated all of my favourite Floral items from my fave Plus Size shop Yours Clothing, as well as Simply Be and a new find Pink Clove.

Yours Clothing

Simply Be

Pink Clove

1. Floral Print Kimono - £28

Florals were also heavily featured in this months Cosmopolitan, with the fabulous fashion editors describing the trend as "A smattering of petals - from ditsy florals to bold prints..." as well as being one of the main themes at this seasons London Fashion Week, with designers such as John Rocha and Temperley London showcasing their pastel florals and Spring blossoms.

So why not bag yourself a new piece and jump on the "Flower Power" bandwagon. It's a sure-fire way to get on trend and into the Spring fling state of mind.

Monday Wish List - Coral Inspiration

Hey lovely people!

Ok so I have been doing a lot of online window shopping as of late. Like most women, I have quite the taste for spending a bit of cash on clothing and therefore have built up quite the collection of bits and pieces, that I want to get my hands on.

So on that note I have separated my items into different categories based on the type of style I'm going for with each outfit.

Spring Daytime

So outfit number 1 is inspired by Spring. Not showing too much flesh but definitely baring those arms to the sunshine is the 1st step to getting a bit of colour on your skin and shaking off the winter knitwear. I chose a coral coloured top because I think it is the perfect combination of girly and classic without going too far with the pink. Also the dipped hem at the back is ideal for a fuller figured lady, as it hides what is definitely in my case, a rather voluptious derrière. Additionally, darker skinny jeans are much more flattering for a fuller figure as they hide any of your lumps and bumps.

To accessorize I have chosen a beautiful chunky coral bracelet to compliment the top above. As well as a white & gold stretch brooch ring & gold beaded hoop earrings. I have short hair so these are the perfect earring for me... but they might prove a bit annoying for somebody with long hair. To finish off the look I have opted for a simple, but classic white shoulder bag. Big enough to carry around during the day, but with long enough straps that it can sit comfortably on the shoulder as well as having the option to lengthen the straps and use it across the body. It's the perfect day bag.

Spring Evening

Sticking with the coral theme I have gone for this Coral and Black skater dress. Its not too dressy but that is kind of the point. I like to keep my clothes as simple as possible so that I have the option of dressing it up with jewellery and other accessories. This dress can be paired with some black tights and these black patent Mary Jane style heels and you have a pretty, quirky evening look. Add so sparkly heart shaped earrings, a black & silver sparkly bracelet and a black patent & silver clutch to top it all off.

I love these outfits because they can be dressed up or down depending on the look you're after. Coral is a big colour for me this year and I think pairing it with the lighter accessories during the day is perfect for that fresh spring style, while opting for the dark accessories in the evening really makes the transition from casual to dressy really easy and effortless.

I have soooo many other items in my wishlist, so I'm going to make an effort to share this type of post with you on a weekly basis.

If you are interested in finding more items like this then you can find these beautiful pieces and more at Yours Clothing. This is a fabulous site for plus sized females who, like myself often struggle to find pretty and flattering items on the high-street. They are very reasonably priced and even offer new customers a 20% discount on their first order over £20 so definitely give them a little visit.

Spring is Sprung!

Hey there lovely people!

Well this is my beautiful bouquet from my hubby this week - Tulips!!! :)

This means only one thing... Spring is at our doorsteps... and winter is finally on it's way outta here. Thank goodness.

On that basis I thought I would list my favourite things about this fabulous little season:

1. The change in the weather!

Now this is a biggie for me as I'm not a lover of extremely hot weather. I do however love a bit of sunshine even if the air is a bit nippier. Which is why Spring is the absolute best season for me.

2. Freshly cut grass!

This is the season of the year that (certainly here in Scotland) we have the first cut of the year and I'm sure you'll agree... there is no better smell in the world than walking out your front door and getting the whiff of freshly cut grass! I wish someone could bottle that smell.

3. The clocks go forward for the start of British Summertime on the 30th of March!

Now this is a kind of double edged sword in the sense that with the clocks going forward, we technically lose an hours sleep. However the positive side is that the mornings are lighter and the evenings longer. And really there's nothing better than that eh?

4. Spring Cleaning!

This might seem like a ridiculous thing to enjoy about spring but for me this is a great opportunity to get rid of all the dirt, rubbish and negativity built up from the previous year and to start a brand new year with a fresh and clean home & state of mind!

5. EASTER!!!

My 2nd favourite public holiday of the year... why... cause there's lots and lots and lots of chocolate. There really is no other reason needed here. Lol!

So there you have it, my top 5 reasons for loving Spring. What are yours???

Take care lovelies. x
